Shooting Mincemeat!

Today I thought I would put a quick image on Facebook of some mincemeat Nicki made over the weekend ready for christmas, after taking a quick snap I thought it looked pretty bad, so I thought I would have a play with some lighting and see if I could get a better shot to show off all her hard work, I was quite pleased with the result and thought I would go through what I did!

The first image is the strait from camera with speed light attached to the hotshoe
Next image is the finished image I used on Facebook after setting up some speed lights off camera
Here are a few images of the set up I used, one speed light behind the jars to backlight them, one to the right of the jars with a small soft box fitted and one to the left with a grid fitted. I put a red backdrop behind the work island.

This image is just triggering the light behind the jars which was fitted with a grid to direct the light.
To bounce some light back onto the red backdrop I cut a small piece of card and covered it in tin foil and placed it behind the jars, you can see this on one of the set up images above. here is the result below.
Next image is with the light to the jar right added.
Next I added the gridded light from the left.
Again the finished image sharpened in Photoshop and the edges of the image darkened, also I held a white card above the jars to bounce some light onto the top of the jar lids.
